We are booked solid until 2nd week of august, but there is a nice slot available for any bands/artists out there who wish to take advantage of our awesome album and EP rates and get a release out before summer roles in.
Flick Dave an email to dave@miscreantrecordings.com if you’re interested or shopping around for a studio, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at our rates and quality of work we have been producing!
Throughout June we had Harvest hit the studio, the single is now available to checkout on their Facebook page. I also recorded a live demo album over 3 days for punk band Trash City Victims and worked on some demo tracks for solo artists Dan Latimer who will be back in July to record a single.
We have a number of new artists hitting the studio throughout July, and we will keep you all posted on who’s here and when you can hear the outcome.
Lots happening at the studio this month, including a new look to the website! I have been on the hunt for a new studio space in the Auckland city area, it’s early days yet, but hopefully I will find something and have it all setup in the coming months. This will be much more convenient for our more central auckland based clients who struggle to get out to Albany.
I’ve just completed 2 new tracks titled ‘These Days’ and ‘Time’ for Auckland based rock band The Zoup which will be featured on their new upcoming EP. Tracks should be available to listen on their website in august/september or you can grab a promo CD off them at any of their upcoming shows to be one of the first to hear the goodness. The band are also touring the sth island so be sure to check out their website for tour dates around NZ.
Rotorua based rock/metal band ‘Harvest’ were also in the studio the other day recording a single, the track, as yet un-named, should be up very soon, it sounds hot!
Punk band Trash City Victims will be in the studio next week recording their debut album. We are setting the whole band up in the studio and recording it live and raw.. looking forward to this one as it’s going to be a very different approach to the whole recording process than the usual overdub method.
Stay tuned for more new music too as i will soon be updating my music player with some of the latest of my production works.
It’s May music month again (even though I believe every month should be music month) and it’s time to get out and see some live music and support some kiwi talent, especially for those of you who usually don’t. Every band who is a band has probably organised a show this month, so it’s a great opportunity to check your gig guides and see when and where your favorite kiwi artists are playing!
I have made some changes to the site, you will see to the right i have added a Facebook and Twitter logo which link to the corresponding pages, if you havn’t become a fan or follower on either site please take the time to go to it and join, you will get all the latest news as it happens as well like links to new music and stuff.
I’ve added the ‘Jester’ company logo run by my good friend Tory Staples who is an event and band manager/booking agent amongst other things. If you are a band and need help, he’s the go to go guy and i’m proud to have Jester as a partner.
I’ve been working hard on the Jimmy and the Goodbrew record these past couple weeks. I will start mixing this week and putting some finishing touches on the tracks, songs are taking shape and I am very stoked to have the opportunity to take part in such an awesome project. It’s been hella fun!
Cheers!
Gidday,
So summer is over and she’s starting to get a wee bit chilly here.. will be time to light the fire soon! The level of talent blessing MR isn’t cold though, as i shall explain what is happening at the moment….
Started working on Jimmy and the Goodbrew’s debut album last week.. sounding fantastic! The band will be in the studio for the next few weeks for a estimated mid to late year release in time for summer.. if you havn’t heard any of the bands tunes, we did a single together late last year titled ‘Golden Rule’ which you can check out in the music player. If you’re a fan of reggae/roots/acoustic type stuff in the vein of Tahuna Breaks, Black Seeds etc then this will be a record for you.
I worked with a new hardcore metal band from Hamilton (No official name yet but currently going under ‘Before One’s Face’) in the week before i started working with Jimmy.. we recorded 3 songs and i’m in the process of mixing at the moment. It’s something a little different from what I have been doing (hella heavy!) and I think these young guys show a lot of promise.. they sure have their musical chops sorted.
I’ve been working on a few other smaller projects too, one of them being the final mixing and mastering touches to Ryan Kershaw’s acoustic album which should see light in a few weeks.
I have a few future projects booked including ‘The Zoup’ who are back to record 2 more tracks in late May.
I have a bit of room in June available now so if you would like to see why all these artists trust me with their music in my hands, feel free to flick me an email to discuss your project.. I won’t disappoint!
cheers
-Dave
Gidday!
So it’s march already and i’m currently well into Emma G’s debut album.. drums are all done thanks to the awesome skills of drummer extraordinaire Tory ‘Jester’ Staples and the next few weeks we’ll be tracking bass gats and vox.. it’s sounding awesome and some great singles will come out of it methinks.
Mystery Liquid’s album is near completion.. they have revealed some samples on their website if you wana go have a listen to it’s progress www.myspace.com/mysteryliquid. We’ve just gota make a few more tweaks and we are all go! I’d imagine the boys will be organising a mid year release…
I’ve also just finished 3 new tracks for Dirty Pistola.. this is the 3rd time the band have been here and have revealed a new level of maturity in their music with a fresh sound.. so i will reveal when they are available too.
Heavy Artillery is a metal band I produced a 6 track EP for late last year, and we recently put the icing on the cake and mastered the mixes with acclaimed Swedish mastering engineer Frederik Nordstrom. The outcome is 6 tracks of mind blowing heavy metal, so stay tuned for that puppy.
I have a few more smaller recording projects coming up during the month with metal band Harvest and solo artist Gerald Walters both coming to record singles. Then i’m recording 3 songs for a new metal band near the start of april, and on april 12th start recording Jimmy and the goodbrew’s debut album!
A big move in the pipeline is the relocation of the Paremoremo studio.. my partner and I are looking to buy our first home, and I am looking for the ideal space to setup a FLASH new studio! This is early in the works and this will not affect any future bookings whatsoever.. but i thought i’d share this exciting news with you all..
cheers!

Hey all,
Happy 2010! I would like to welcome you all to the brand spankin’ new Miscreant Recordings website.. Thanks to my awesome and beautiful partner Abby for throwing it all together for me! 2010 has already taken off for me with 3 albums in the pipeline throughout the year starting with pre-production for Emma G’s album starting in February; she’s a very talented singer/songwriter from the Waikato.. it’s gona be a stunner! I already did a single with her last year titled ‘Goodbye’.. Emma G on Facebook.
I started off the year with some onsite recording and post production with a new production company called Two Oceans for a TV commercial.. You may have seen the Flooring First commercial on air.. it was cool to do something a little different.. i’m not really a fan of cheesy TV commercials.. but it was a cool job nonetheless and an area of audio i havn’t really delved into yet, and i love expanding my horizons.. after all, variety is the spice of life!
I’ve been in talks with Tory ‘Jester’ Staples about MR being part of his ever growing empire.. it’s early days yet but there are talks of production/management/promotional packages which we think is a brilliant way for artists to have an ‘all in one’ way of getting your music heard… what is the point of having a great song without anyone with the know how of how to market and promote it?! Please get in contact with me if this is something that would interest you…
Mystery Liquids album will be done soon.. it’s been a long time coming but the boys are finally ready to get it out there so stay tuned around March.. they’re also playing some huge festivals like the Waitakere sounds festical with Dane Rumble and Midnight Youth.. these boys are going places! Mystery Liquid myspace..
Also stay tuned for ‘Heavy Artillery’s’ EP due out in the next month or 2.. i produced all 6 tracks of this masterpiece of metal and proud to have it mastered by ‘In Flames’ mastering engineer Fredrik Nordström.. it’s LOUD! But not in a bad way… very cool.
Anti-Venom were in the studio this week nutting out 2 more tracks.. first mixes are sounding killer so stay tuned for those.. Rockers Dirty Pistola are also back in the studio next week recording 3 songs.
I’ve got plenty of room unbooked so if you’re keen to get some recording done wether it be some mixing mastering of singles ep’s or albums.. or even full on production get in touch because i’d love to help. Have a wander through the site and see what MR is all about.
cheers
-Dave
The view at MR.

Sh!t, time flies ay! Already over half way into 09.. in september we’ve been open a year.. and it’s been one hellova good start, so thanks to everyone who’s been part of it so far! And i mean it, i’m stoked with the level of talent nz has to offer.
Lately i’ve been working on new songs with Transit of venus (including an EPIC 15 minute live recording in the studio), Snagon, Suckafish (an album in the making!), Diesel Pheonix(album!) Dirty Pistola, and my own band Miscreant finally with some new material.
There’s a number of projects coming up with the likes of Heavy Artillery, Nic Hurman (from audio empires solo project), Antivenom and more from lastawake and a few others coming up.. word has it Snagon are coming back to do more songs to finish off an EP which will be RAD!
It’s been a long time coming and Mystery Liquid’s album is nearly recorded with just vocals to go.. i’m really amped about this because it’s gona be a killer record.. also i’ve done a single with diesel pheonix and about 8 drums tracks so far which is the start of what is going to be the recording of their follow up album.. you may know of them as their former name donkey punk and i see them doing big things as well and really stoked to be working with them.
If you’re a band and havn’t written a testimonial about your recording experiene at MR yet, please send it to me at dave@miscreantband.com..
I believe you won’t get better bang for your buck anywhere in nz, so get in and take advantage of my special introductory rates of $360 for a single recorded mixed and mastered and 2 songs $600.
rock n’ roll
-Dave
