Miscreant Recordings is a recording/production studio owned and operated by producer/audio engineer David Edtmaier. Besides being a gifted sound engineer and producer, David is also an experienced musician and songwriter (performing over a decade in a number of different bands) with a great set of ears and the willingness and passion to go the extra mile to get the best out of your music, catering to any style of music. David is patient, friendly, and easy going, and assists in making the recording experience as enjoyable as possible. He makes a great espresso coffee too!
The studio is based on the outer skirts of Auckland’s North Shore in a relaxing country style home packed with the latest state of the art recording equipment and countless audio plugins, powered by the most widely used Digital Audio Workstation Pro Tools. Our clients love the relaxed and naturally lit lounge style recording environment we have, away from the often nerve racking dark and dingy studio environment, which assists in getting the best out of our clients performances. The studio has full kitchen facilities including an espresso coffee machine and even a spa on the deck overlooking a serene view if you need a break! There is a full 6 channel headphone monitoring system in place, stunning tube Universal Audio and joemeek preamps, and a vast array of microphones in a large acoustically sound live room with high wooden ceilings that make all instruments sound alive.
David prides himself in producing quality recordings at the lowest possible rate, which is why his clients keep coming back for more. He’s been in bands for about 14 years, some of which have had nationwide airplay, and knows all the highs and lows of being in a band, and works individually with each band not only as a recording engineer and/or producer, but as a mentor to young bands. He’s happy to help with his knowledge of the music industry and contacts to help get your tracks into the right hands.
David has now worked with many of the countries finest up and coming artists, and in his short time running his studio has already had a number of his productions/recordings air on a number of radio and TV stations throughout the country, including commercial stations such as The Rock, ZM, Life FM, C4, The Edge, Juice TV, and Kiwi FM. Most radio stations do not settle for second best when it comes to quality, that is why you need an engineer like David who can capture it and produce it into a quality recorded medium.. Afterall, who wants to be told that your awesome song can’t be played because the quality is too poor due to a bad recording and mix job?
Miscreant Recordings is here to solve the issue of having to spend thousands of dollars at big studios, when you can get the results you want, and need in this modern day of solid production values, with me at my project studio in a relaxing serene environment at rates anyone can afford. We don’t like to be called a ‘budget or cheap studio’, because even the artists we have worked with will agree that the outcome is never ‘cheap’ or ‘budget’ sounding.. but we simply can afford to charge you less due to operating out of a home project studio making our overhead costs a lot less.. and you reap the benefits with more time for your buck and an outcome that you will be stoked with because we know our setup and use it well.
All our rates are ‘flat fee’ or ‘day/half day rates’ which means you don’t pay by the hour, but on a quote for quote basis depending on the job, and includes unlimited ‘premixes’ of your music even after your time in the studio is over, so you get more time to get the results you’re after. This is usually done over email once the recording process is done, i send through a mix, you send me back your feedback or any changes you want, and i make those changes and send the ammended mix back.. easy and hassle free and no extra or hidden costs. There are set rates per song/EP/album or whatever you need done, so please contact me for a quote as prices vary from job to job, but ALL include this deal for your piece of mind.. no more leaving a studio and being unhappy with the mix later on because it sounded great in the studio.
