It’s been a busy couple of months as per usual, and we’re well and truly settled in to the new melbourne studio. It’s been great so far and loving the Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula music scenes! We’ve had a number of new Melbourne/Mornington based artists in here taking advantage of our killer deals including EP’s for local band Choke On It and solo artist Bronnie AC. We’re also in the final stages of the Turning Tricks album which we tracked in Auckland earlier in the year. I’ve also been regularly doing sound recording and mix for BalconyTV Melbourne and had the pleasure of doing sound and meeting artists like Eskimo Joe, Ash Grunwald & Don Mcglashan to name just a few!
I also wanted to mention we’re still doing mixes and masters for many New Zealand clients still, and for some artists I will be heading over to Auckland to do some recording in the not too distant future, so there’s plenty of options out there for our dedicated NZ clients, we havn’t forgotten about ya!
cheers!
Busy time at the moment.. currently mixing the Turning Tricks album, look them up! Also been busier with BalconyTV Melbourne lately doing sound for some bigger acts such as Don McGlashan and others coming up who I shouldn’t name yet… very exciting though!
We did an EP for metal band ChokeOnIt recently and it came out sounding pretty epic! Look them up on Facebook…
Other than that it’s still cold as but warming up.. nice to see some bluebird sky today before I head to Balcony TV to do some sound recording…
cheers!

I’m pleased to announce that as of 26th June 2011 we are going to be doing sound for Balcony TV Melbourne. Balcony TV are basically an internet based TV show with locations all over the world and showcase both local and international touring artists. You can check out the latest offerings from the Balcony at their Facebook or Official website. All up Balcony TV have currently had 20 million video views +. The Melbourne show is relatively new so please go show your support by ‘liking’ it on Facebook!
Next week we have Melbourne band ‘Choke On It’ in the studio recording their debut EP, followed by the mixing of Turning Tricks’s upcoming album, July has gotten rather full!
cheers
We’ve completed our first EP recording at the new studio with Melbourne punk rock band ‘The Race Card’. The mixes are nearly done and we’re very pleased with the outcome! Sounding huge…..!
We are loving Melbourne, despite the sudden COLD weather! The sun is supposedly showing it’s face again this week and i’m planning on checking out the Mornington markets on Wednesday, fingers crossed for a nice day. There are some great restaurants and pubs around and heaps of live music, there is a thriving music scene down here in the peninsula, as well as Melbourne of course, just about every bar in every nook and cranny seems to have some kind of live music coming up or on, even Katchafire (nz based reggae group) are playing up the road in Frankston in June which i’m gona go check out. What a great city!
We have a couple of quieter than normal weeks now as we went pretty light on the bookings throughout the whole moving process, but things are looking to busy up very quickly with some mix and master jobs throughout May. In being relatively quiet, now is a great time to get any mastering or mixing work in before the big rush! There may even be room for a recording or 2 so if you need any work done please don’t hesitate to get in touch, now is a great time as you may even get a great deal!
Thanks for reading, watch this space!
Hi all,
After a 6 week stint we’re finally setup in Melbourne. The Melbourne studio is based about 40 kilometers south east out of Melbourne CBD in the Mornington Peninsula region in the lovely costal suburb of Mount Martha. The house the studio is located at has panoramic bay views, it truly is stunning! We will get some more photos to you shortly but here’s a couple.. one of the live room and another of the view from the deck…
We started with our first booking this week doing an EP for Melbourne punk band ‘The Race Card’. It’s been going great so far!
We’re taking bookings from now onwards so if you’re a Melbourne band looking for some quality recording you’ve come to the right place! Also remember we havn’t forgotten about our NZ clients.. get in touch if you need some recording we have great packages in Auckland still, and if you wana take the next step and head to melbourne, we can provide accomodation!
Cheers!
Dave
Hi all,
Just a quick update on the progress of our move to Melbourne. We are packing up mid march and on a plane march 29th. Amongst all the gear, the dog and cat are on the list too, (not a cheap thing to do either!!) but all is smooth thus far.
The setup will occur throughout April and will be in full operation in may. We’re proud to say we have secured a couple of bookings already and we’re not even there yet! Address and studio details will be announced in due course.
I have also caught up with Kristie Addison, our Auckland based recording engineer based in the CBD, and we already have her working a couple of upcoming recordings which is great, i will be recieving those mixes to work on shortly. It’s a good feeling all bases are covered as we still love working with NZ artists, it’s a little country full of amazing talent.
Lastly we’d like to send our thoughts and prayers out to all those who have been struck by disaster in the past couple of months, having experienced the death of someone close in my own family, hate the thought of this happening on such a mass and sudden scale. Take care everyone and cherish those you love, who knows what may happen next.
Thanks!
Dave
MR Studios would like to announce we are relocating our main studio and headquarters to Melbourne, Australia.
This shift will be occuring in April 2011 when our Paremoremo studio will be closed for good, but we are still providing an Auckland based service…!
We will still have a recording service available in Auckland NZ delivering the same standard of quality and kickass rates our clients expect from us. Taking the reigns on the recording/tracking side of things in AKL will be the very talented Kristie Addison (Amperzahn, Transit of Venus).
Kristie will be doing the recording/tracking work for us at a nice new studio she works at based in Parnell and sending the audio stems to us in Melbourne to work on the finer details like mixing and mastering, where all further correspondence with artists will be done via email, phone or skype. Gotta love technology!
All enquiries & bookings still come to us at dave@mrstudio.co.nz or dave@miscreantrecordings.com
All mixing or mastering jobs can still be done the same over the internet like we do with all our out of town clients. We have a massive high speed server for file transfering.
All bookings at our paremoremo studio before April 2011 will go ahead as planned.
Our new Melbourne location will be based in the scenic coastal area of Mornington, half an hour or so south east from the CBD. We will be able to come up with package deals including accomodation for any bands who are interested in crossing the ditch to record with us in Melbourne and introduce themselves to the Melbourne scene by playing some shows at the same time.
Lastly I would like to thank all the artists who have worked with us over the years and made our first studio venture such a great success. A number of artists we worked with have achieved radio airplay, some of it being commercial stations that are huge competition, and even some chart success.. being able to produce commercially acceptable tracks on low budgets and timeframes is a mean feat for a small project studio, one we are very proud of!
Also a big shout out goes out to all our family, friends, former bandmates, and those who have supported us and taken some part in assisting my venture in NZ, legends!
Cheers
David Edtmaier
